Dr Shilpa Bade-Gite
Professor in Computer Science
Dr Shilpa Bade-Gite develops trustworthy, human-centred AI systems for healthcare, intelligent systems, smart mobility and other real-world applications. She brings more than two decades of experience in higher education, research, academic leadership and industry engagement, and was named in the Stanford–Elsevier Top 2% Scientists list in 2025.
Biography
Dr Bade-Gite has held academic leadership and research roles including Director and Professor, Professor and Head of Department, and Research Faculty. Her experience spans curriculum design, AI and machine learning programme development, accreditation and quality assurance, faculty mentoring and research capacity building.
She has led research and consultancy projects with organisations including Philips India Pvt. Ltd. and ARDE (DRDO). She holds a PhD in Deep Learning from Symbiosis International University, Pune, an MTech in Information Technology from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, and a BE in Information Technology from MGM's JNEC, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar University.
Research
Dr Bade-Gite's research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning and human-centred intelligent systems. She focuses on AI that is not only accurate and efficient but also explainable, responsible and suitable for real-world decision-making.

Teaching
Dr Bade-Gite teaches Human–Computer Interaction on the BSc (Hons) Computer Science and Natural Language Processing on the MSc Artificial Intelligence. Her teaching interests also include artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and responsible AI.
